Updates From the Principal

Autumn 2016

Welcome Back!

Once again it was lovely to see our familiar faces and some  new ones at the school gates. Welcome to all including Mrs Saif, Miss Ballinger and Miss Bell, all of whom have joined our teaching team this year.

Thank you for putting in the effort to send the children back to school looking so smart with all their correct uniforms.

Keep your eye on the calendar because as usual, we have lots coming up. There are some changes this year  - one of which is the way we do our Celebration Assembly and Miss Ferdinand will be sending a letter home explaining the changes. The first two events on the calendar are the Meet and Greet/Parent Information session next week, Roald Dahl Day and the Circus - which is causing huge excitement! All the details are in a letter in your children's school  bags so make sure you check!

Once again our Value is Happiness to check out the Pig of Happiness on this page and it will still bring a smile to your face!

We are looking forward to a great Autumn.

End of Summer 2016

Dear Parents and Carers

This year has gone so very quickly and as I reflect back on it I feel a sense of overwhelming pride in the children here. From the successful Ofsted visit in January to the glowing report from Investors in Pupils we have just received – the common theme is our wonderful children and how well they represent the school. Your children are a credit to you.

I would like to wish the year 6 children every success as they continue on their journey and welcome our new children into the Early Years.  Have a good Summer everyone.

End of Spring 2016

Dear Parents and Carers

It would appear that I am always saying hello or goodbye as I greet you at the beginning of a term or leave you at the end! The terms rush by and before we know it we are approaching yet another Easter. The Spring Term has been a busy one as usual but this one has been particularly eventful with the visit from OFSTEd on the 9th February. We have just received our report and it is very favourable.  Our children were a credit to us and to you as parents. The inspector was extremely impressed with the children's behaviour and the way they discussed their learning and their experiences at school. We are very proud of all of them.

Happy Easter Everyone!

Welcome to Spring 2016

Welcome back everyone.  Once again we have an action packed term in front of us. A list of key dates will come home with the children at the end of the first week and please keep checking the website and school app for updates.

Happy New Year to you all!!

Dear Parents and Carers

Welcome to the start of the new school year.

It was super to see everyone back safe and well and looking extremely smart in their new uniforms.

Before we look ahead at the new year I must say a huge congratulation to last year’s Yr 6 on their fantastic set of SATs results. They should be very proud of their hard work and positive attitude. Our results are above local and national averages and we are enormously pleased with their achievements. We all wish them well in Year 7!  We must not forget Year 2 and say congratulations to them also on their great results and Year 1 with their phonic scores – again, both above national averages. Well done everybody!!

We have an exciting year ahead with lots going on as usual. As a result of your extremely encouraging feedback on last term’s  Welcome To….. venture,  we have decided to launch it  again this year and spread the events more widely.   See the website calendar for the dates.

I’m sure you have noticed the new artificial grassed pitch/play area. The children are thrilled and are making  good use of it…and no mud!!  Feel free to try it for yourselves.

We look forward to a busy and productive term and would like to remind you that the door is always open. Remember, the Parent’s Forum is an ideal opportunity to contribute your thoughts and ideas (see website page) and everyone is welcome.  The next meeting is on October 21st at 7.00pm.

The Pig of Happiness

An original animated film by Edward Monkton. Watching it is likely to make you a happier person. Sharing it with your friends is likely to make them happier too. So spread the love & press play. The children love it!!

This brought a tear to few eyes at the leavers concert!!

Year 6 Leavers Poem

Last few days of primary school
Goodbye is nearly here
The tests the trips all done
The full stop day is near

Last few days of primary school
Where everything's before
The aims and games and crazes
no one’s crazy for any more

Last few days of primary school
Surrounded by a class
Who'll scatter soon and not return
when summer’s days have passed

Last few days of primary school
Our final lunchtime plays
Instead of chasing friends we try
to chase and catch the days

Last few days of primary school
The clock hands blur and skid
Signing shirts, remembering
the coolest things we did

Last few days of primary school
With Sir who understood
And helped me see I could achieve
because he believed I could

Last few days of primary school
The assembly we all dread
We do not sing - us Year Six kings
The crown slips from our heads

Last few days of primary school
The full stop rings in our ears
We must leave behind our childhood site
and say farewell to our wonder years.
