Tasks you could choose to complete today:

Paper/online work:

Maths: Complete ‘Reasoning and Problem Solving Place Value Consolidation’ sheets 3 and 4 (Home Learning Pack 3).

English: Complete ‘Adverts’ writing task (Home Learning Pack 3).

You have been given the challenge of designing a brand new toy or app. First you must create a diagram of your idea, a description of the product and how it works. Then create an advert for your product. Remember to use noun phrases and verbs in your advert and make sure it is persuasive – you want people to buy it!

R.E: Eid is the festival celebrated by Muslims at the end of Ramadan. It will be celebrated around the world this weekend. Watch the videos below to learn more about this special time:

  1. Read the Eid shape poem (Home Learning Pack 3).
  2. Your task is to write a poem of your own about how Eid is celebrated. Complete the planning sheet first (Home Learning Pack 3). There is also a template in your home learning pack if you would like to write a shape poem like the example you looked at.

Online work:

English: Complete Purple Mash SPAG 2do ‘George Misbehaves – Verb Prefixes’.

Music: Charanga: Follow the Charanga instructions on the sheet in your last learning pack (Home Learning Pack 2). This includes your own username and password.

Your new project is called ‘Plastic’.

Work through some of the activities, reading the instructions carefully. You do not need to complete them all today.

Maths: Complete the ‘Calculated Colouring 5’ sheet (New Learning Pack).

English: KS2 Reading Year 5 Targeted Question Book (Home Learning Pack 3):

Re-read the Myth ‘The Coming of Raven’ Pg 22 & 23.

Complete Question Set 2 Pg 26 & 27

Science: Complete pages 14, 15 and 16 of the Solar System sheets (Home Learning Pack 3). Follow the instructions for tasks 1 and 2, completing the diagrams (you may have to do some research) and answering the questions.

  

PSHE: We are all living through a strange time at the moment. Sometimes you may feel worried about the current situation or upset about not being able to see members of your family and friends. This is ok and completely normal. Pick one of the ‘Mindfulness’ activities saved in the document at the bottom of this page and have a go to relax your mind!

P.E: Complete one of the ‘Athletics’ home learning tasks from your pack (Reaction Time/Relay running/Endurance running/Hurdling/The heave throw/Standing triple jump).

English: ‘Broken: rock, paper, scissors’ activity pack (Home Learning Pack 3).

  • Complete the ‘Setting description’ writing task.

PSHE: Complete the ‘Making a Difference’ activity (Learning Pack). Charities and voluntary groups work hard to improve our communities. Choose a charity which you think does valuable work and design a poster to raise awareness of this charity. Remember to explain to people what your chosen charity does and how it helps.

Computing: Play the ‘Cookie’ and ‘Biscuit’ games on 2DIY3D (see 2dos). Then you can use 2DIY3D to design and play your own 3D food game.

History: Purple Mash VE Day Quiz - Can you answer the questions about VE Day? You may need to research online to find out the answers.

 

Purple Mash:

I have set up a class blog on Purple Mash. The purpose is to share what you have been learning at home. This will allow you to keep in touch with your classmates and you can ask me any questions about your home learning too! 

Search for '2Blog', click on 'Class Blogs' and open 'Year 5 Home Learning'. All posts will be checked for Mrs Strong's approval before being posted.
