Spring Term 2021

What is Mental Health?

Just as we look after our physical health(our bodies) by doing things like exercising, eating well and getting enough sleep, we also need to look after our mental health (our minds).

One way of caring for our mental health is to notice and share how we are feeling. Expressing ourselves in creative ways can help us do this

______________________________________________________________________________________________________________

‘Express yourself’ is about finding creative ways to share feelings, thoughts, or ideas, through things like art, writing, music, dance and doing things that make you feel good.

Being able to express yourself is not about being the best at something or putting on a performance for others. It is about finding a way to show how you are feeling that can help you feel good about yourself.

Watch this video of ‘Beautiful Oops’ and remember, it’s OK to make mistakes.

Getepic Reading email sent 27/01/21

We have recently signed up to a fantastic website that allows the children to access a range of reading books at home including fiction, non-fiction, comics and videos.

To access the books, please follow these instructions:

  1. Type in:  www.getepic.com/students
  2. It will then ask you for a class code. Our class code is: ehu1819 (this will be the same for all year 2 children).
  3. Click on your child’s name to see the books.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                Below is a link to a youtube tutorial that talks you through the website and shows you all the features that can be used:

If your child is currently using Accelerated Reader, there is an opportunity to select the level your child is on from the AR tab at the top.

There will also be link to the website on Teams so it is easily accessible.  If you have any difficulties or questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

Thank you for your continued support.

Email sent to parents/ carers on 5.1.21

Good afternoon,

As you will be very well aware, primary schools have been instructed to shift to remote learning with immediate effect.  This is as disappointing to us as it will be to you and your children and it is our aim to maintain their learning and the great progress made so far this school year.

Please see attached for a project which your children can complete for the rest of the week. From Monday 11th January, we will be using Microsoft Teams as a platform for your child’s learning. Instructions, lessons and tasks will be published there on a regular basis. We will also continue to use Purple Mash and My Maths and will update our website with information (https://www.stchristophersacademy.org/page/?title=Home+Learning&pid=108

The children’s log in’s for Microsoft Teams, Purple Mash and My Maths can be found in their Resource Pack which will need to be collected from the front of the school between 10am and 11am tomorrow morning (Wednesday 6th Jan).  Microsoft Teams log in details will also be emailed to parents/ carers.

Microsoft Teams is a new platform for the children, please see the links below to help you and your child with setting it up; Student Guide to using Teams here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jx36qQf_Qpk  and a Parent Guide to using Teams here :  https://youtu.be/v1OD89OTb2A

There will obviously be some difficulties as we all familiarise ourselves with teaching and learning in a different way but the main objective is to keep all children learning and help secure their futures.  Feel free to contact us if you need to.
