School Lunch Information

Children can enjoy a freshly cooked meal every day, prepared on site by our experienced catering team. The menu offers a variety of choices and operates on a three-week rolling cycle.

Universal Free School Meals

Under the Government’s initiative, all children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are entitled to a free school meal every day.

Children in Years 3–6 may choose to have a school meal or bring a packed lunch from home. (Please refer to our guidance below)

Setting Up a School Grid Account

To access school meals, you will need a School Grid account (our meal pre-ordering system).

1. Please provide your email address to the school office for your account to be activated.

2. Once set up, you will receive an email from School Grid with your login details.

Through your School Grid account, you can:

• Pre-order your child’s meals

• View recipes, ingredients, and allergen information

• Make payments online

You can also make payments by telephone (01942 707709). Please note that the minimum phone payment is £10.

Free School Meals Eligibility

• If your child is in Reception or Key Stage 1, Universal Free School Meals will automatically be applied to your account. All other features will still be available to you.

• If your child is in Nursery or Key Stage 2, you may still be entitled to Free School Meals. Please contact your Local Authority to check eligibility. Once confirmed, the Local Authority will notify us, and your account will be updated.

• The new roll-out of free school meals to those receiving universal credit (without income limit) has started from Sept 26.  If you receive universal credit you will be auto-enrolled.  If you have queries please speak to the school office.

School Dinner Fees

Current Prices (2026)

• Nursery: £2.74 per day (in addition to care fees)

• Years 3–6: £3.11 per day

Packed Lunches

 

If your child brings a packed lunch, please send it in a named lunchbox.  The UK government and NHS advise parents to pack balanced lunchboxes that always include vegetables and fruit while cutting down on ultra-processed foods, sugar and salt. 

Please include the following; 

• Fresh fruit and vegetables

• Dairy-lower-fat cheese, plain yoghurt or calcium fortified dairy alternatives

• Protein-rich foods (lean meat, fish, eggs, beans, or pulses) – no fried food

• Wholemeal or wholegrain bread/wraps/pitta rice, pasta or couscous 

• A healthy drink, such as water, fruit juice or milk (no fizzy drinks or squash)

• To promote healthy eating, crackers containing salt, crisps, chocolate bars, confectionery and fizzy drinks are not permitted in packed lunches or as a snack. 

  

We ask that you do not send any nuts or items containing nuts into school.

School Milk with Cool Milk 

Our school milk is provided by Cool Milk.

Registering Your Child

You can register your child for school milk online at www.coolmilk.com/register or by completing a registration form (available at the school reception) and returning it to FREEPOST COOL MILK.

If you register before 5pm on a Tuesday, your child will start receiving milk the following week.

If Your Child is Under 5

• School milk is free until your child’s fifth birthday.

• Once registered, they will enjoy a daily serving of chilled milk in the classroom, with all the nutritional benefits it provides.

If Your Child is 5 or Over

• Milk is available at a subsidised cost of around £15 per term.

• By registering online, you can pay straightaway.

• If you use the paper form, Cool Milk will send you a payment request.

• Payments received before 5pm on a Tuesday mean your child will start receiving milk the following week.

• Children continue to benefit from a daily serving of chilled milk in the classroom.
